More About Dress
OK, my suggestion that the dress instructions be flexible has to do not with
gender politics but rather A. our ages and current figures, B. comfort, C.
current dress styles. Next, maybe it is just me, but I have not seen
consummate taste in clothing at any gambling establishment I have ever been
at. Either it is tacky overdressed and in pretty much hideous taste, or if
you check out the line up at the slots, it's sort of polyester down at the
heels. Not that any of us wish to replicate that, but the common dress
instruction is either upscale casual, business or cocktail attire. This is
not a wedding, after all, so I think that all of us of the feminine
persuasion can happily avoid chiffon and discomfort, if possible. Most are
grandmothers, after all. Just thinking of people being less self conscious
and more comfortable. Of course, I am pretty much a proponent of people doing
what will make them enjoy themselves, rather than getting blisters on their
feet and cutting out early to get free of panty hose. Course, you guys don't
have to put up with that sh-t, so the only thing that replicates the
discomfort of some of the silly aspects of women's clothing is a necktie,
which you have already decided to opt away from. I vote for sensible,
comfortable, and letting people figure it out. If somebody comes in
inappropriate dress, I doubt we will be any less glad (sounds like a
Hemmingway phrase) to see them.
